Yes, you read the title right, this progress blog will be over two weeks of the One Room Challenge. Why, you ask? Well, a few of the projects overlapped and I wanted to write about them when they were completed. That way you can see the project in its entirety. I’m excited to show you were this project is now, so lets do it!!

I was able to get two coats of paint on the shiplap. I have tried a lot of different whites and Alabaster by Sherwin Williams has to be my favorite. It has a slight cream coloring to it, which has a calming effect. It’s not a white you would find in a room that’s padded, if you know what I mean? Lol!
The rest of the time was dedicated to the hearth and countertop. This project took a little longer for a couple reasons. One being I had never done a faux soapstone finish before, so there was a definite learning curve. The second being, I got close to the finish line and hated the way they were looking. Luckily I was using paint so I was able to paint over it and start again. I will be putting out a blog on how I did the faux soapstone and when I do I will link it HERE. Below, are a few pictures of some of the process. I’m really pleased on how they came out. Let me know what you think.
The only things left to do, for this wall is:
- Add baseboards
- Paint cabinet and doors
- Build and hang floating shelves
We are so close!! Make sure you are following along on my Instagram stories, that’s where all the fun happens!! See you nest week for the update for week five!!
